Dead ruminant carcass on your Ecosystem:

As a student of environmental health/toxicology, i keep a grave concern on the photo posted by you.I realize the following consequences of the dead animal carcass just lying on the street:

1.Aesthetic value: It deteriorates the living environment for human being. It is so nasty that if you pass through this on the beginning of the day, it may perturb your feeling for whole day.

2.Attraction of disease Vector: The fresh carcass immediatialy attracts the athropod (Fly, maggot fly), which are deadly vectors of number of diseases. They lay eggs on the natural orifices, multiply within 24 hours and begin to wasp around.

3.Putrefying gases: The bloated corpse result after the number of anaerobic microorganism(they are found within the body of animal) act upon it and releases gases like hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, methane, ammonia, sulfur dioxide, cadeverine, putricine etc.Methane and Carbon dioxide are noted green house gases which account for "Global climate change".

3.Black petrification that result after 3 weeks of death, are caused by Clostradium species of bacteria, their family consists of ANTHRAX causing bacteria to BOTULISM or food poisoning causing bacteria.Physical transfer of them by fly, feral dogs into the food chain or public water may result into a serious havoc in public health.

4.Carrion-breeding arthropods contain mercury, a notorious heavy metal,in their body.

Conclusion: The chemistry of a decaying carcass is text book. Burying in the earth or incineration is a proper way of disposition of such carcass. This is just a responsibility of public authority for which we pay or tax.
